In the community

We're part of the fabric of life in Toronto and take great pride in giving back to our community. That’s why we continue to raise money for important causes and participate in community initiatives to help promote a brighter future for our city.

We’re a proud supporter of Sunnybrook’s Ross Tilley Burn Centre. It’s the largest, most advanced adult burn centre in Canada, and boasts a world class reputation in burn care and research into stem cells, tissue engineering and 3D skin printing.

Toronto Hydro supports United Way Greater Toronto in helping to build a better city by fighting poverty, abuse and hopelessness. In 2018, we were recognized with a Gold Leader Award in recognition of our annual employee campaign.

United Way Greater Toronto

As part of our community involvement program, we host an annual tree planting event to help make the city more green. Since 2004, our employees have planted over 4,660 trees across the city.

We host an annual Take Our Kids to Work event to help introduce Grade 9 students to a wide range of career possibilities in the electricity industry.

Take Our Kids to Work

We host Brighter Nights™ community events, where we replace old, burnt-out or inefficient porch lights with more energy-efficient bulbs to help make local neighbourhoods safer. The Brighter Nights™ program is a joint effort with the City of Toronto’s Community Crisis Response Program, as well as local community groups and volunteers.
