A new way to access your interval meter electricity usage

Learn what's changing, what to expect and how to prepare for the update.

Update: We’ve extended access to PowerLens™ (also known as PowerLens™ Business) until the fall.^[1] This gives you more time to access and download any data you may need before the transition to the new usage tracker.

This fall,^[1] PowerLens™ — our current interval usage tool — will be discontinued. It will be replaced by a new usage tracker within our self-serve portal on the Toronto Hydro website. There, you’ll be able to manage your account(s) and access your usage data all in one place. The tracker is designed to be fast, reliable and easy to use. It will include essential features, with additional capabilities introduced over time.

Do you have generation and/or storage facilities, such as solar panels or battery energy storage, connected to Toronto Hydro's grid? The tracker will also provide access to excess electricity generation data.

What’s changing — and when

This fall,^[1] PowerLens™ will no longer be available. Once PowerLens™ is discontinued, you won’t be able to access:

Existing reports or graphs
Reports scheduled to occur past fall 2026^[1]
More than seven years of historical electricity usage data (this includes excess electricity generation data for customers with generation and/or storage facilities)

Shortly after PowerLens™ ends, you’ll access electricity data through Toronto Hydro’s self‑serve portal.

Please note: During the transition between PowerLens™ and the new usage tracker, there will be a few days where you’ll temporarily be unable to access your electricity data. We understand this may be inconvenient and appreciate your patience. You’ll still be able to access your data from this period in the new tracker once it's available.

What’s available with the new usage tracker

The new tracker will allow you to access interval electricity usage data in XLSX format. You’ll be able to:

Instantly download reports with up to two years of historical usage data^[2]
Create reports with up to seven years of historical usage data (available the next day at the earliest)
Set up recurring reports to receive regular updates automatically

Note: If you have generation and/or storage facilities connected to Toronto Hydro's grid, the tracker will also provide access to up to seven years of historical excess electricity generation data.

Graphs and analytics tools — including Load Analysis and Usage & Variance Analysis from PowerLens™ — won’t be available when the new usage tracker launches. These features will be introduced later and refined over time, informed by customer feedback. We recognize that many customers rely on these tools and understand that this change may be disruptive. Thank you for your understanding as we work toward delivering a solution that better meets your needs.

How this change benefits you

Download data before your PowerLens™ ends

If you currently use PowerLens™, we encourage you to download any data, reports, analytics or graphs you may need from PowerLens™ before it ends this fall.^[1]

PowerLens™ will be discontinued this fall^[1] and all associated reports and graphs will be permanently deleted. You won’t have access to any graphs, analytics or reports created in PowerLens™.

We’ll follow up closer to the fall with a more specific timeline.

Set up (or check) your online profile
We recommend setting up your online profile in our self-serve portal before the fall. This way, you will have everything ready when the new usage tracker launches.

You should set up or check your online profile if you’re a primary or secondary account holder who currently accesses or needs to access all account details (i.e., billing information, notification preferences, payment options, etc.).

If you’re currently a secondary account holder who only accesses electricity data through PowerLens™, you can wait to set up your profile until the customer sends you an invitation for third-party account access.

Follow these steps based on your situation:

Don’t have an online profile?

Register with your account. If you have multiple accounts, register using one account number. Once you log in, check the account selector in the top-right corner of the portal for your other accounts, if applicable. If you don’t see the other accounts, call us at 416-542-8000 (press 6) to add them.

Already have an online profile?

Log in using the email linked to your account(s). Then, confirm your account(s) appear in your online profile. To do this, check the account selector in the top-right corner of the portal. If any are missing, call us at 416-542-8000 (press 6).

Not sure if you have an online profile?

Try logging in first. If you can’t log in, register and follow the steps to link your account(s). You can refer to the “Don’t have an online profile?” section above for details. If you have questions or need support, please call us at 416-542-8000 (press 6).

Third-party account access

Do you work with a third party, like an energy consultant, who needs access to your electricity data? Before the new usage tracker becomes available, our customers can invite third parties to access electricity data for select account(s).

You should only send a third-party invitation to a third party who you want to only access your electricity usage data (not any billing information or other account details).

Note: Third parties who currently have access to PowerLens™ will not automatically have access to the new usage tracker in Toronto Hydro’s self-serve portal. They’ll either need to set up or check their online profile, or receive a third-party account access invitation.

Once the new usage tracker is available in the fall,^[1] third-party users will be able to access Download Data and Reporting from their My Usage page of our self-serve portal. This will allow them to:

Download up to two years of electricity data instantly^[2]
Create reports with up to seven years of historical electricity data (available the next day at the earliest)
Schedule recurring reports

Third-party users cannot access payment and billing information on your account(s). They also cannot move or close accounts, change payment preferences or change outage notifications preferences. These features are only available to primary and secondary account holders.

Note: If you invite someone who is already a primary or secondary account holder, they will retain their existing access — including access to payment and billing information and notification settings.

Check whether the person you want to invite is already a primary or secondary account holder on the account(s). To do this, go to the View Users page in the self-serve portal. Use the account selector (top right) to choose the account.

If they are not listed as primary or secondary: You can send the third-party invitation
If they are listed as primary or secondary: Do not send the invitation

If you want this person to have third-party access only, you must first remove their secondary access. To remove their secondary access, please call 416-542-8000 (press 6). Once removed, you can send the invitation.

Note: If you invite someone who is already a primary or secondary account holder, they will retain their existing access—including access to payment and billing information and notification settings.

Once you’ve set up your online profile and confirmed the person is not already a primary or secondary account holder, you can send a third-party invitation from the Manage Third-Party Invitations page in our self-serve portal.

For third parties who only need access to electricity data

If you only need access to electricity data, you’ll need third-party account access.

A customer must first send you an email invitation. Once you’ve set up your third-party access, you’ll be able to view the electricity data for the account(s) you’ve been granted access to when the new usage tracker launches.
