Dan Smart serves as Interim Chief Operating Officer at Toronto Hydro. In this role, he oversees all aspects of grid operations, substations, metering operations, distribution construction and maintenance, design, engineering, asset strategy, integrated planning and grid modernization.
Dan joined Toronto Hydro in 2008 from the nuclear generation industry, and has held progressively senior leadership roles across engineering and operations. Over the course of his career, Dan has spearheaded major organizational initiatives including cultural transformation programs, emergency response planning, modernization of operating technology and delivery of large capital and maintenance programs.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
