Toronto Hydro Corporation Reports its Second Quarter Financial Results for 2020

TORONTO, Aug. 19, 2020 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro Corporation (the "Corporation") today announced its consolidated financial and operating results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2020.

Net income after net movements in regulatory balances for the six months ended June 30, 2020, was $71.4 million compared to $88.7 million for the comparable period in 2019. The decrease over the previous year was primarily due to: lower distribution revenue mainly driven by lower commercial electricity consumption as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and by lower distribution rates; lower revenue recovery as a result of the provincial government's changes to conservation and demand management programs in Ontario; and higher depreciation, partially offset by lower income taxes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Corporation has maintained the full range of its services while focusing on the health and safety of its employees and the community. The Corporation has continued with critical work in its grid investment plan to maintain safety and reliability, support a growing city, and meet customer service needs.
