Toronto Hydro Continues Power Restoration Work Across the City

    TORONTO, April 26 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro crews have made significant
progress in restoring power to many areas of the City that were most affected
by power outages as a result of severe rain storm yesterday evening.
    As of approximately 8:00 a.m., Toronto Hydro System Control reports that
all feeder outages have been restored with the exception of the following area
in Etobicoke:

    (*) Martingrove Road, between Hedges Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue West

    Repair efforts are also continuing in Scarborough on Finch Avenue East,
as well as Midland Road and St. Clair Avenue East as numerous poles down
caused extensive damage to those areas. In North York, power outages continue
along Spring Garden Avenue as a result of a massive tree down.
    Crews will continue to work throughout Sunday afternoon and evening in
all affected areas to repair and restore power as quickly as possible.
    Toronto Hydro crews are also being dispatched to smaller, localized
outages throughout the City and power restoration work will continue well into
Sunday evening.
    At this time, approximately 1500 customers are affected by power outages
in Toronto.
    The City of Toronto reminds all residents to refer to the latest edition
of Our Toronto issued last week which includes power outage tips and an
emergency planning guide.
    Our priority is the safe return of power to all customers and we remain
focused on power restoration efforts. Toronto Hydro reminds all customers and
residents to exercise caution around downed electrical wires and in areas of
the City that are densely populated by large trees.
