Toronto Hydro Corporation is a holding company which wholly owns two subsidiaries:

  • Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited distributes electricity and engages in conservation and demand management activities; and
  • Toronto Hydro Energy Services Inc. provides street lighting services.

The principal business is the distribution of electricity by Toronto Hydro-Electric System, which owns and operates $2.4 billion of capital assets comprised primarily of an electricity distribution system that delivers electricity to approximately 709,000 customers in the City.  It is the largest municipal electricity distribution company in Canada and distributes approximately 18 per cent of electricity consumed in the Province of Ontario.

The City of Toronto is the sole shareholder of Toronto Hydro Corporation.
