What we do

Power delivery

Toronto Hydro plays an important role in Ontario’s electricity system. We’re responsible for delivering electricity to our almost 800,000 customers in Canada’s largest city. In this role, we distribute approximately 18% of the electricity consumed in the province.

Sustainability

We’re focused on sustainability – both in our own operations and by giving our customers the tools and tips they need to reduce their electricity usage – and have been recognized for our sustainability efforts by the Canadian Electricity Association.

Innovation

We’re also focused on innovation. We’re involved in several energy storage projects, which are examples of the flexible, integrated electricity grid we need to continue to build in the future, and have recently turned our attention to ensuring there is the infrastructure to support electric vehicles in the city. We’re proud to be working to push our industry forward.
