The saveONenergy RETROFIT PROGRAM offers you financial incentive to adopt more energy-efficient technologies and improve your bottom line.
PARTICIPATE AND SAVE
The RETROFIT PROGRAM provides financial incentives for replacing inefficient existing equipment with high efficiency equipment that will improve the efficiency of your operational procedures and processes.
THREE WAYS TO CONSERVE
There are three ways to start conserving energy with this program:
1. Prescriptive Track
The Prescriptive approach covers a wide range of lights and equipment on a pre-defined list that shows corresponding per unit savings incentives. These projects involve replacements and upgrades to existing systems.
2. Engineered Track
The Engineered approach provides for incentives by recognizing savings resulting from both equipment replacement and system design improvements.
Based on the reductions in peak demand and/or electricity consumption, the worksheet will calculate the incentive amount. The available engineered worksheets include:
* Commercial interior lighting tool
* Commercial high bay lighting tool
* Unitary A/C tool (ie. rooftop units and split systems)
* Lighting controls tool
* HVAC controls tool
* Fan system variable speed drive tool
* Pumping systems variable speed drive tool.
3. Custom Track
The Custom approach is available for more complex or innovative solutions not covered in the Prescriptive or Engineered track. Technology, equipment and system improvements are evaluated on their demand and energy-performance. Incentives are paid after measuring and verifying the savings.
The incentives are based on providing specific project information including:
* A description of the facility baseline use of electricity
* A description of the equipment being replaced
* A description of the new equipment
* Disposal costs of old equipment
* The operating schedule (days per week, hours per day, time of day)
* The cost of the new equipment.

Non Lighting including Lighting Controls
|
Per Unit Incentives |
The greater of either, $800/kW of demand savings OR $0.10/kWh of first year electricity savings (to a maximum of 50% of project costs) |
The greater of either, $800/kW of demand savings OR $0.10/kWh of first year electricity savings (to a maximum of 50% of project costs) |
* Additional incentives are available for Multi-Residential Bulidings and Social Housing.
To participate, your project must be pre-approved and be worth a minimum prescriptive per unit incentive of $100. For the Engineered or Custom tracks, your project must have an estimated demand reduction of 1kW or first-year annual energy savings of 2,000 kWh. Projects must deliver energy savings for at least 48 months.
Eligibility
Applicants must be owners or tenants of business premises served by Toronto Hydro.
Please note that if you are a tenant, you must obtain permission from the property owner for installation of the measures for which an incentive is claimed.
Examples of eligible buildings include:
* Commercial buildings such as offices, retail and grocery stores, restaurants, and warehouses;
* Government and institutional buildings, including hospitals, courthouses, universiities, municipal halls and arenas;
* Multi-residential buidlings, such as apartments (including low-income and social housing), condominiums;
* Agricultural facilites including farms, orchards, greenhouses and nurseries.
