Equal Payment Plan FAQ

Make your household budgeting easier. Register for the Equal Payment Plan and enjoy the benefits of predictable monthly payments.

Who can enrol in the Equal Payment Program (EPP)?

All residential customers enrolled in Pre-Authorized Payment can register for EPP.

Is there a cost to join EPP?

No, there are no fees for enrolling in the Equal Payment Plan.

How is the equal monthly instalment calculated?

We estimate your annual electricity costs for the upcoming year based on your total electricity use from the previous year, using current rates. This amount is divided into equal monthly payments.

Once a year, accounts are reconciled and any overpayment or underpayment is applied to the following monthly payments. In addition, accounts will be reviewed on an interim basis and the equal monthly instalment payment may be adjusted where necessary.

If the annual reconciliation shows that you are owed an amount equal to or exceeding your average monthly billing, the amount will be applied to the following monthly payments. If you wish to receive a one-time payment of the credit via cheque, please contact us.

If the annual reconciliation shows that you owe an amount equal to or exceeding your average monthly billing, Toronto Hydro will recover the balance over the following year's equal monthly payments.

If your bill seems too high after your first EPP bill, please contact us.

Do I lose money if I used less electricity than my monthly instalment?

No, you only pay for the electricity you use. If you use less electricity than expected, you will receive a credit after your annual reconciliation.

How do I sign up for EPP?

Customers can register for EPP via My TorontoHydro.
