Official Contest Rules
Entry and Eligibility
This contest runs from September 24, 2012 through September 28, 2012 ("Contest Period"). You will be entered into the Corporate Responsibility Trivia contest (the “Contest”) if you fill out the entry form located on the “Trivia Contest” tab on the Toronto Hydro Facebook page and respond to the daily trivia question on the Toronto Hydro Facebook page between 9:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on the day the trivia question you are answering is posted (the “Contest Day”).
This Contest is only open to current residents of the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada who are current customers of Toronto Hydro and who became customers prior to September 23, 2012 and who are 18 years of age or older, excluding the employees, directors and officers of Toronto Hydro or any of its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, and agents and representatives and the immediate family members of such employees, directors, and officers, their legal or common-law spouse and/or any persons living in the same household. There is a limit of one entry per customer per Contest Day.
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. A copy of the Official Contest Rules for this contest will be posted at www.torontohydro.com/contest throughout the Contest Period. By entering this Contest, entrants acknowledge they have read, understood and agree to comply with these Official Contest Rules. Toronto Hydro reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant they find to be tampering with the entry process or with the operation of this Contest or to be acting in violation of the Official Contest Rules. Toronto Hydro reserves the rights, in its sole discretion, to amend, cancel, terminate, or suspend this Contest, in whole or in part, without prior notice.
All entries become the property of Toronto Hydro and none will be returned. All entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are late, lost, illegible, incomplete, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. Toronto Hydro is not responsible for contacting entrants who provide unclear or incomplete information and assumes no responsibility for entries that are delayed or misdirected nor for any failure of Facebook for any reason during the Contest Period, including any failure to receive an entry as a result of technical problems.
Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of law, and should such an attempt be made, Toronto Hydro reserves the right to exclude such person from the Contest and to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Prizes
The following sole (1) eco prize pack will be awarded for each Contest Day during the Contest Period to one eligible entrant:
- TWO (2) LIGHT BULBS: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $4.00 CAD
- ONE (1) LED KEY LIGHT: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $1.82 CAD
- ONE (1) LED NIGHT LIGHT: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $4.28 CAD
- ONE (1) SOLAR POWERED RHYTHM SOUNDBAG: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $41.18 CAD
Each eco prize pack has an anticipated approximate total retail value of $51.28 (CAD).
The following sole (1) grand prize package will be awarded to one (1) eligible entrant during the Contest Period:
- TWO (2) LIGHT BULBS: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $4.00 CAD
- ONE (1) LED KEY LIGHT: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $1.82 CAD
- ONE (1) LED NIGHT LIGHT: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $4.28 CAD
- ONE (1) SOLAR POWERED RHYTHM SOUNDBAG: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $41.18 CAD
- ONE (1) SOLAR BACKPACK: Anticipated approximate retail value is estimated to be $91.84 CAD
The grand prize package has an anticipated approximate total retail value of $143.12 (CAD).
The prizes must be accepted as described in these Official Contest Rules and cannot be transferred to another individual, substituted for another prize or exchanged in whole or in part for money, provided that Toronto Hydro reserves the right to substitute the prizes with other prize(s) of equal or greater value, without liability.
Winner Selection
THE CONTEST BEGINS SEPTEMBER 24, 2012 AND ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 11:59 PM (EST) ON EACH CONTEST DAY. The potential winner of the eco prize pack will be selected randomly on or about 10:00 AM (EST) on the business day following each Contest Day from the total correct answer entry pool from the relevant Contest Day at the offices of Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited, 5800 Yonge Street Toronto, Ontario, M2M 3T3. The potential winner of the grand prize package will be selected randomly on or about the business day following the Contest Period from the total correct answer entry pool from the Contest at the offices of Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited, 5800 Yonge Street Toronto, Ontario, M2M 3T3. Winners will be selected randomly by the Toronto Hydro Customer Experience and Marketing Communications Team at Toronto Hydro's office under the supervision of Lauren Kirk Manager, Customer Care. Odds of winning the eco prize pack depend on the number of eligible entries received by the end of each relevant Contest Day and meeting the contest criteria. Odds of winning the grand prize package depend on the number of eligible entries received by the end of the Contest Period and meeting the contest criteria. The eligible entrant randomly selected will be notified via e-mail on or before October 5, 2012. The selected entrant must respond to Toronto Hydro via telephone at 416-542-3100 x 30463 or via email to hbhatia@torontohydro.com within 96 hours of such notification or the selected entrant will forfeit the prize package. Toronto Hydro may then select a new name from the remaining eligible entrants. This selection process will continue until an eligible entry is selected and a winner is declared.
In order to be declared an official winner, the selected entrant must:
- respond to the notice that they have been selected as a potential winner within 96 hours of the notice;
- correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question by email to a representative of Toronto Hydro's Customer Experience and Marketing Communications department;
- provide satisfactory identification and proof of eligibility; and
- sign and return (via email or mail) to Toronto Hydro, within three (3) days of receipt thereof, an agreement and release form confirming entrant's eligibility and compliance with the Official Contest Rules, acceptance of the prize as awarded, and releasing Toronto Hydro, Facebook, the suppliers of the prizes and their respective advertising and promotional agencies and their affiliates, and employees, directors, officers, agents and representatives, successors and assigns of each, respectively (collectively, the "Releasees") from all liability for damages s/he may incur as a result of participating in this Contest and accepting and using the prize.
Failure to comply with these Official Contest Rules will cause the prize package to be forfeited, in which case, the prize package will be re-awarded at Toronto Hydro's discretion.
All decisions of the Toronto Hydro Customer Experience and Marketing Communication Team, including the validation of entries and the evaluation of the entrant's answer to the skill testing question, will be final and binding on the entrant, without right of appeal.
Release
By entering this Contest, each entrant acknowledges and agrees that the Releasees accept no responsibility for any loss, damages or claims arising from, or caused by, the Contest or the prize package awarded, and releases the Releasees in respect thereof.
By entering this Contest, each entrant further acknowledges and agrees that as a condition of winning, Toronto Hydro and its affiliates have the right to use and publicize the winners’ names, which shall include publicizing the winners’ names on Toronto Hydro’s Facebook page, and fact that he/she has won a specific prize for publicity purposes, without remuneration or liability, except where prohibited by law, and agrees to sign a release acknowledging such rights.
By entering this Contest, each entrant further acknowledges and agrees that as a condition of entering that all entries and submissions become the sole property of Toronto Hydro and its affiliates and Toronto Hydro has the right to use as desired without remunerations or liability.
Governing Laws
This promotion is subject to all applicable laws in the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
Winner Acknowledgement
The names of the official winners will be posted on Toronto Hydro’s Facebook page.
Personal Information
The personal information gathered about entrants for this Contest will be used only for the administration of this Contest and will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose except as permitted or required by law.
