The project notification letter tells me that the project is going to happen, but why doesn't it provide the exact date when construction will be in front of my property?
Due to the size of the project, it's difficult to provide exact dates when a customer's property will have construction near it.

Who should I contact for identification of sprinklers systems, pool drains, etc.?
You can call the contact on the project notification letter in advance and this can be noted on the drawing. Or, every street has a foreman and you can ask any worker to be put in touch with this person.

How have residents in other project areas responded once learning about a system rebuild planned for their community?
Residents have responded well, being very supportive, understanding and eager to have the new system in place.

Do you work with other utilities to minimize construction on my street?
Yes, part of the planning process is to co-ordinate future projects with other utilities for joint use trenching to minimize disruptions and costs for customers.

Are the old transformer boxes going to be filled up and covered with soil when the new electrical system is connected?
We'll be retrofitting the existing transformers in their same locations.

Why are some residents getting 2 or 3 additional underground boxes adjacent to their properties?
This situation arises as a result of many utility services currently in the ground and we have to fit the equipment where space allows.

Will my driveway be blocked off?
The contractor has been instructed to accommodate the residents in every way possible to ensure that they are not inconvenienced or restricted from accessing their property.

When are the new wires and submersible transformers going to be installed?
A project has 3 steps:
Step 1: Civil Work - Contractors will begin digging and trenching
Step 2: Electrical Work - Toronto Hydro crews will begin a few weeks after the civil work
Step 3: Property Restoration - This work is done outside of the winter months

Why am I inconvenienced with a planned outage?
It's necessary to have the outage in order to transfer the services over to the new distribution system.

I work from home on a computer and was wondering if I'll be notified of a power disruption so I don't lose my work?
Customers will receive at least 24 hours notification of a planned outage by our crews.

How much landscaping will be included in the restoration?
Grass areas will be sodded, asphalt driveways will be replaced from sidewalk to curb and interlock will be removed and replaced to the owners satisfaction. We'll make every effort to restore property to its original condition.

I was planning driveway renovations and was wonder if it's better to wait?
We suggest you speak to the street foreperson to determine how extensive the excavations will be on your part of the street.

Will the contractor take responsibility to repair my sprinkler system if it's damaged?
If the homeowner's sprinkler systems is damaged, the contractor will make the repair.

What if my cable connection gets cut during trenching?
You should call the cable company directly and inform them of the damaged cable. Also, try to alert the site foreman so they're aware.
