Get a $75 credit on your bill for signing up
If you have a central air conditioner, you likely qualify for a $75 credit on your bill when you sign up for peaksaver. After you sign up, there's nothing more for you to do - we take care of everything.
Here's how it works
When you sign up for peaksaver®, a small device will be installed near your central air conditioner to reduce its energy use during times of peak electricity demand. These are usually on hot summer weekday afternoons when air conditioners are running at maximum, but never on weekends or statutory holidays. You likely won't notice any change in the temperature in your home.
Soon after the installation, you'll receive a $75 credit on your bill.
Why peaksaver? It's the green thing to do
When you sign up for peaksaver®, you're joining over 60,000 Toronto households and businesses that are helping to reduce the environmental impact of periods of peak electricity demand.
It's during these peak periods that the less attractive forms of generation, like coal, must be used. This causes some of the pollution we sometimes see on hot summer days. So, help us reduce the peaks and clear the air by signing up for peaksaver®.
peaksaver® activation is minimal
Typically peaksaver® is activated when the electricity supply is reaching its peak, usually during the week, Monday to Friday. The activation period won't exceed four hours, and it's never on weekends or holidays. If you have a special day on which you'd like to opt out, call us and we'll schedule an exemption.
