Reliability Toronto Hydro evaluates service reliability through two main measures: duration and frequency of outages. System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) is a measure of the annual average duration of outages for customers (in hours)5. System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) is a measure of the frequency of interruptions6. In 2014, we saw a reduction in the average duration and frequency of outages. In fact, since 2007, the average number of service interruptions has improved by 31% and the average duration of interruptions has improved by 26%. In 2014, we improved our facilities footprint through our facilities consolidation program. We closed our location at 5800 Yonge St. and made better use of existing space at 500 Commissioners St., reducing our square footage by approximately 194,000 square feet. Our ongoing facilities consolidation program helps us lower operating centre costs and simplifies long-term planning. In 2014, we also purchased a property in the west end of the city, which will become an operating centre. Ultimately, the Facilities Consolidation program will eliminate the need for two of our buildings. Expected net proceeds on the sale of these two surplus properties have been included in our 2015-2019 rates application to mitigate electricity distribution rate increases.
