Major Events:

In 1997, Toronto Hydro launched our website and the beginning of online self-service.
On January 1, 1998, Bill 103 amalgamated six municipal electric utilities into one, nearly tripling Toronto Hydro’s customer base to approximately 650,000 customers.
To help restore power after the ice storm of January 1998, Toronto Hydro sent approximately 350 employees to eastern Ontario and southern Quebec. Crews worked 12 to 20 hours a day, coped with cold, harsh conditions and unfamiliar equipment – and there were zero injuries.
In July of 1999, Toronto Hydro incorperated and the City of Toronto became our sole shareholder.
