Major Events:

In the early 1980s, computerized information systems started to play a vital role in operations. Toronto Hydro prepared for the introduction of a customized Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), which enabled Operators to accurately and remotely monitor the distribution system and respond more quickly to emergencies.
As the company was moving to digital/electronic, so were most other Toronto corporations. Desktop computers, printers, networks and photocopiers all demanded power.
